Lenape Lines 2006-2007

RESULTS OF LENAPE SURVEY

Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey and for patiently answering all my telephone calls and questions. If you answered that you would like to share your experiences, I will not call to follow up but hope that you will share your experiences in the Lenape Lines.

Twenty-four responses were received out of 31 members. Seven did not respond.

On the question: Do you Breed Golden Retrievers?

Thirteen members breed or have bred in the past. Over 50% of the respondents breed, occasionally breed or have bred in
the past.

On the question: Have you donated a puppy to a Service Dog Orgn?
Three members have donated a puppy or several puppies to Service Dog organizations and one has attempted to donate.
Puppies have been donated to:

Seeing Eye, Inc.
Guide Dogs for the Blind
Pause for Cause
Leader Dogs

One member's donated puppy was so qualified it became a breeder for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Another member bred a
puppy who has been trained privately for a quadriplegic.

On the question: Do you own a Golden that is a Registered Therapy Dog?
Six members have registered therapy dogs certified through Therapy Dogs, Int'l., Comfort Caring Canines, and Therapy Dog, Inc. Lenape therapy dogs make visitations at nursing homes, assisted care facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, autistic support in schools, and reading programs. They spend approximately two to eight hours per month on therapy dog work. Three dogs have been therapy dogs for eight years while two have been therapy dogs for three years and one dog has been a therapy dog for one year.

On the question: Are you a Golden Retriever Rescue Volunteer?
Three members currently volunteer at Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue and one member volunteered previously. The volunteers do home visits, intake line, and adoption day spending approximately one week per month working for DVGRR.

Additionally, one member does Pet First Aid and CPR Training for the American Heart Assoc. once a month for people
and pets.
